Story Tellers Assignment #12 Language
English is one of the widest spoken languages, I'm not really sure why when England is pretty small in comparrisson with most other countries but there we go. Because English is so widely spoken the schooling systems here are pretty lazy with teaching language; not checking students understanding, knowledge and ability in the subject, leading to poor word order and lack of confidence. This shines true to me when I decided to continue learning German at college. When I was at secondary school they changed my German Language teacher and I went from an A* student in the subject to a C-. The teacher I had just couldn't control the class so would refuse to teach us. I thought that with a C- grade I would be more than capable to learning more about the language at college. Oh how wrong I was.
I walked into my first lesson and had such a lovely teacher, she was pretty funny and would make a lot of jokes, the onl problem was that the whole lesson was in German so I had pretty much no idea what she was saying! It was really embarrassing as she would ask questions directly to you in German. I ended up dropping the course and am really gutted that school let me down. I know basic conversational German but that is it.
I would love to learn more languages but with such a demanding job it's hard to do this, maybe one day. :)
